Pompei Trip 2008 - 3,400 miles

Normally so lacking in our everyday lives, we fancied sun and culture this year so headed off for Pompei via an XS1100 rally in Germany.

The trip started inauspiciously with Andy's VFR800 getting about 50 miles before blowing the second alternator in a very short time. A call to the Motorcycle Action Group recovery service saw the bike loaded and taken back in shame to Shebbear within the hour. This left the two remaining bikes more loaded than expected and late for the ferry.

With a little bit of extra effort from the right wrists, Bens not yet run in Honda Varadero performed well as did the 28 year old Yamaha XS1100. We reached Dover with 20 minutes before sailing when we were supposed to be there 30 minutes at the latest so find that the ship was delayed and we need not have pushed so hard. Oh well.
